A celebration of the women of tango, from March 7 to 12
Tanguerafest, the weekend that celebrates the women of tango in honour of International Women's Day, will take place at MonTango and the Rialto from March 7 to 12, 2018. Juliana Maggioli just loves Montreal and will be back again this year to teach women's technique workshops as well as open classes for everyone. As always, there will be a fundraising component, a tango clothing swap, an art exhibit by a local artist and a Grand Bal at the Rialto theatre with live music and dance performances.

Note that the art exhibit will remain on display at MonTango until the end of March. Here's a little more about artist Jenie Gospodinova:
"I was born in Bulgaria. Art has played an important role in my life since the age of 4: ballet classes, music and art in high school, a short detour toward fashion and theatre. A masters in speech therapy that was not enough to keep me steered toward science.
At age 20 I opened my first ballet school. Shortly after I turned 30, painting became a shelter and a means of escape for me, giving me a new way to present myself to the world. I have done the stage and costume design for more than 20 ballet shows. The beauty, charisma, and perfect lines of dancers bodies as well as the magnetism of women are themes that have always inspired me."
