Friday, Feb. 14

"For the love of tango," Valentine's Day dinner, tango show and milonga with live music

6:30 p.m.: Dinner and show: Concert by Victor Simon and his ensemble (piano and strings sextet) with dancers Tomás Howlin, Wolf Mercado, Diane Rivest and Andrea Shepherd. Dinner includes: hot and cold meal, dessert, coffee and a glass of bubbly. *Advance reservations required.

9 p.m.: Milonga with live music for dancing by Victor Simon and his ensemble (quartet), as well as recorded music by DJ Piotr.

*Note that the musical repertoire for the milonga will be entirely different from that of the concert. The concert will include concert music as well as some of Victor's original compositions, while the music during the milonga will be designed for the dance floor, including a selection of well-known tangos, waltzes and milongas.

Saturday, Feb. 15

“A musical voyage through the orchestras,” Seminar Part One
Grand Studio

11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Opening talk on tango music with Victor: The determining characteristics of tango: What makes tango tango?

12:15-4:15 p.m.: The traits and characteristics of each of the big orchestras: going beyond the steps to learn to interpret the music with Andrea, Diane, Tomás and Wolf.
*Note that all five teachers will be present for the entire seminar!
 
Sunday, Feb. 16

“The musical dialogue," Seminar Part Two
MonTango

12-2:30 p.m.
We'll discover the dialogue that takes place within the music itself while playing with the dialogue of the tango couple.

Afternoon milonga with a few piano tandas played by Victor
